The Mono-rail guitar bridge is a hard-tail bridge used on certain Ibanez guitar and hybrid bass models.
As its name implies the Mono-rail bridge anchors only a single string as opposed to most bridges which anchor all six (or more) of the strings.
This allows each individual bridge to be mounted at the ideal location to the best range of intonation possible.
Because of the flexibility this design affords it is used on multi scale guitars with fanned frets, although it is also used on many guitars with traditional straight frets.
The design allows for equalized tension across all strings while isolating each string so that it vibrates optimally without impacting any others.
The saddle can be moved fore and aft to adjust intonation as well as up and down to achieve the desired string height.
The Mono-rail bridge was introduced in 2015 on the Iron Label RGIF7 and RGIF8. It has since been used on several models in the RG, RGD, Iceman and FR series.
Additionally it is employed on the Soundgear SRC6MS, which straddles the line between a multi-scale 6-string bass and a baritone guitar.
