This reed is designed to produce an extremely pure sound quality due to a very thin reed tip (the area of the reed that has the maximum vibration), balanced with a solid backbone (more reed in the area that gradually rises to the heel). The Traditionals have a thinner tip with a thicker "heart", resulting in a lively, full-sounding, dark articulation.
