The Braguinha (also known as Machete) is a typical instrument from the island of Madeira. It is believed to have originated from the Cavaquinho and later gave rise to other cavaquinhos around the world.
It has 4 courses of strings with a fingerboard superimposed on the soundboard, thus easily distinguishing it from the instrument from which it originated.
