Artimúsica's CV12B model is built manually, using solid wood. The top is in solid lime and acacia, in two different shades, creating a contrasting effect between the two half-tops, which are located just below the simple round mouth. The bottom and sides are in solid acacia, and the arm is in poplar. The choice of woods promotes the brilliant sound of this instrument, which can be used intensively by both folklore and ethnographic groups.
The four strings are tuned by a set of nickel chimes, which allows for the most intense interpretations. The traditional tuning, from the highest to the lowest string, is in D - B - G - G. These variations open up immense possibilities to integrate the cavaquinho as an accompaniment instrument or soloist in a tuna, a set of traditional music, or in another style musical to the taste of the performer.
